Governor Kathy Hochul’s 2025 State of the State address has drawn criticism for focusing on temporary measures rather than long-term solutions. Assemblyman Brian Miller expressed mixed feelings about the proposals, acknowledging some positive aspects but highlighting significant concerns.
Miller noted that while he appreciated the proposed investments in public safety, housing, and youth programs, he felt that the measures did not adequately tackle deeper issues. “Governor Hochul’s 2025 proposals once again prioritize temporary fixes over lasting solutions,” Miller stated. He pointed out that initiatives like the $3 billion inflation refund and expanded child tax credits provide short-term relief but do not address the underlying causes of New York’s affordability crisis or alleviate the burdens on families.
“New Yorkers deserve more than band-aid solutions — they deserve real, sustainable reform,” Miller added. He expressed his willingness to collaborate with colleagues and Governor Hochul during the 2025 legislative session to develop meaningful solutions for families in the 122nd Assembly District.
