A Kirkland resident was arrested after deputies responded to a welfare check in Westmoreland, according to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol.
On March 1, 2026, at approximately 8:30 a.m., the Oneida County Emergency Services 911 Center received a call regarding an individual operating a side-by-side utility vehicle (UTV) who was reportedly acting strangely and possibly under the influence. Deputies located the individual, identified as David Annatone, age 43 of Kirkland, driving a John Deere Gator UTV on Fairway Drive in Westmoreland.
Following a traffic stop and investigation, deputies determined that Annatone was not under the influence. However, it was found that he was operating the UTV illegally on the roadway according to New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law. As a result, arrangements were made to tow the vehicle from the scene.
Before towing the UTV, deputies conducted an inventory search and discovered two switchblade knives inside. Annatone was taken into custody.
He was transported to the Kurt B. Wyman Law Enforcement Building where he was charged with two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree, which is classified as a Class D felony. He was then transferred to the Oneida County Correctional Facility and held for CAP Court later that evening. After appearing in court, Annatone was released on his own recognizance.
“According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, a Kirkland man has been arrested following a Check the Welfare call to the Oneida County Emergency Services 911 Center.”
