Miller Disappointed with State Budget
On Apr 22, 2024, Miller expressed disappointment with the state budget, highlighting key concerns and areas of improvement.
“There is a concerning mismatch in this budget between the final product and the realities regular New Yorkers must deal with. It is sad to see a budget that appears to put the interests of criminals ahead of the welfare of working-class families who struggle with the affordability of our state. Urgent action is needed to address these problems and guarantee the long-term retention of our residents, as outmigration remains a problem,” said Miller.
Miller also acknowledged some positive aspects of the budget, stating, “Some benefits did come in this budget, such as restoration of the Consolidated Local Street and Highway Improvement Program (CHIPS) funding and school aid, as well as an increased cost of living adjustment for our Direct Service Providers.”
However, Miller emphasized that there were still significant shortcomings in the state’s budget, particularly in addressing the needs of Upstate New York. “Overall the state’s budget has numerous shortcomings that did not provide for the needs of Upstate New York. We deserve a budget that actually represents the goals and needs of New Yorkers,” Miller added.
