Shyla Edwards, RN, has been appointed as the nurse navigator for the Mohawk Valley Health System (MVHS) Thoracic Surgery Group. In her new position, Edwards will serve as the main contact for patients and families at the Thoracic Surgery office. She will assist patients in overcoming barriers within the healthcare system and ensure they have timely access to quality care throughout all stages, from pre-diagnosis to ongoing treatment.

Edwards previously worked as a case manager for Senior Network Health in Utica, a registered nurse in the post-anesthesia care unit at Rome Health in Rome, New York, a registered nurse at Mohawk Valley Endoscopy Center in Utica, and as a surgery scheduler with Surgical Associates of Utica.

She holds an Associate of Applied Science in Nursing from Mohawk Valley Community College in Utica.
