The Mohawk Valley Health System (MVHS) marked Certified Nurses Day on March 19, 2025, by recognizing the contributions of its board-certified nurses. This celebration underscores the vital role that board certification plays in maintaining high standards of patient care.

Board certification is becoming increasingly important as healthcare grows more complex. While a registered nurse (RN) license allows entry into general nursing practice, modern nursing demands extensive education and a strong commitment to excellence from nurses.

MVHS supports national board certification for all its nurses across various specialties such as medical-surgical, pediatric, pain management, cardiac vascular, oncology, hospice, case management, emergency nursing, and critical care. Numerous bodies provide certifications for specialized nursing care within the healthcare system. These certifying bodies should be accredited by either the Accreditation Board for Specialty Nursing Certification (ABSNC) or the National Organization for Competence Assurance (NOCA).

MVHS expressed pride in honoring these dedicated professionals: “MVHS is proud to honor these hardworking, dedicated nurses for their professionalism and a job well done!”

On Certified Nurses Day at Wynn Hospital, nurse leadership including Julie Hall, chief nursing officer; Megan Coombs, senior manager of nursing education; and Renee Minasov, senior director of maternal child services; presented certified nurses with certificates of achievement.
