New York State Sen. Joseph Griffo, R-C-Rome, announced today that several residents in the 53rd Senate District have been recognized by the New York State Office for the Aging as part of National Older Americans Month.

“Members of older generations have helped build and shape our state and nation,” Sen. Griffo said. “These individuals from my Senate District, as well as all the others that were honored by the Office for the Aging, have truly made a difference. Through their volunteerism, generosity and compassion, they have inspired and enriched the lives of others and made many important contributions to their communities.”

The honorees include Nancy Nicholl from Oneida County who served as a deputy sheriff for 31 years before transitioning into a role as caregiver; Jane Ondich from Madison County who has shown a passion for helping others through her involvement with AmeriCorps Seniors and citizenship classes at Syracuse Community Connections; Kathy Miller from Chenango County who has dedicated her life to serving older adults through her work with the Chenango County Area Agency on Aging (AAA); and Chuck Miller also from Chenango County whose dedication to volunteerism reflects his deep compassion and commitment to serving others.

Sen. Griffo’s announcement is a testament to these individuals’ significant contributions to their communities and serves as an inspiration for future generations.
