Recruits and their families from the Oneida and Herkimer County Sheriff’s Offices attended a welcome breakfast on March 10 as they began the Basic Peace Officer and Corrections Academy at Mohawk Valley Community College.
The event marked the start of training for new recruits, giving them an opportunity to meet instructors and interact with fellow trainees. The breakfast aimed to foster a sense of community among those entering the program.
During the gathering, attendees were introduced to key staff members who will guide them through their coursework in the coming weeks. The event also allowed families to learn more about the academy experience and support their loved ones as they embark on this career path.
Individuals interested in pursuing a career in corrections are encouraged to use the Oneida County Application Portal for job opportunities. Additional assistance is available through the Community Affairs Unit via email.
The launch of this academy class highlights ongoing efforts by local law enforcement agencies to train new officers and strengthen public safety.
