Jacob Bishop, a 27-year-old resident of the Town of Brookfield in Madison County, was arrested by members of the Oneida County Child Advocacy Center on June 1, according to Chief Deputy Derrick O’Meara, director of the center. Investigators were alerted on May 27 by a member of the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division that Bishop, who is a New York State registered sex offender, was living at an address not registered with the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services.
Following this information, Investigator L. Dillenbeck conducted an investigation and determined that Bishop had been residing in the Village of Oriskany Falls without registering his address within ten days as required under the New York State Sex Offender Registry Act and Corrections Law. On June 1, Bishop was found at a residence in North Brookfield and taken into custody by Investigator Dillenbeck and Investigator L. Brognano.
The arrest operation received assistance from both the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division and members of the Madison County Sheriff’s Office. Bishop has been charged with one count of Failure to Report Change of Address-Prior Offense, classified as a Class D felony under state corrections law.
Bishop was processed at the Kurt B. Wyman Law Enforcement Building before being held at the Oneida County Correctional Facility pending arraignment in CAP Court.
