National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week is being observed from April 12 to 18, according to an April 13 announcement. The week recognizes the essential work of public safety telecommunicators who serve as the first point of contact in emergencies.

The observance highlights the important role these professionals play in supporting police, fire, and emergency medical services. Their calmness under pressure and ability to coordinate life-saving responses are considered vital for community safety.

In Oneida County, officials expressed appreciation for the local Emergency Services team. The statement reads: “Here in Oneida County, we are grateful for the outstanding team at Oneida County Emergency Services. Your professionalism, commitment, and resilience do not go unnoticed.”

The announcement also thanked telecommunicators for their round-the-clock service: “Thank you for serving our community 24/7. We are proud to serve alongside you!”

National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week serves as a reminder of the often unseen but crucial contributions made by these individuals throughout the year.
