The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office attended three fire department installation banquets on Saturday evening. The events were held for the Vernon Center, Durhamville, and Westmoreland fire departments.

During the Westmoreland banquet, four members of the Westmoreland Volunteer Fire Department received Honorary Credentials from the Sheriff’s Office. The recipients—Thomas Crumb, Scott Frye, Bernie Szarek, and Pete Holmes—were recognized for their long-standing service to the department. Collectively, these four individuals have contributed nearly 200 years of service.

A statement from the Sheriff’s Office read: “Thank you to all of our volunteer firefighters for all you do!”

Volunteer firefighters play a significant role in supporting local emergency services and community safety.
