Members of the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office participated in the “Law and Orders” fundraising event at Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill in New Hartford on Apr. 18, trading their usual duties for serving food to customers.
The event aimed to raise both awareness and funds for individuals with intellectual disabilities, specifically benefiting athletes from Special Olympics New York. Deputies and officers took part by working alongside restaurant staff between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m., interacting with guests while supporting a charitable cause.
According to organizers, the collaboration brought together law enforcement personnel, Special Olympics athletes, Applebee’s staff, and community members who contributed through donations during their meals.
A message of thanks was extended to all involved: “Thank you to the staff at Applebees, the Deputies & Officers from the Sheriff’s Office, the Special Olympics Athletes, and especially to the customers who made their gracious donations!”
The fundraiser reflects an ongoing tradition within Oneida County where law enforcement engages directly with residents in support of local causes.
