An Eaton man was arrested after a domestic incident in the Town of Paris, Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol announced on April 17.
The case involves allegations of forced entry and physical altercation at a home in the Village of Clayville. The sheriff said that on April 10, John DeCarolis, age 34, entered a Main Street residence without permission and began fighting with an adult family member. During the altercation with the adult female victim, three children were present in the home. DeCarolis allegedly pushed one child who tried to intervene before fleeing as the victim called for help.
According to authorities, the female victim sustained minor injuries but declined medical attention. None of the children were injured during the incident. Officials also noted that there was an active refrain from order of protection at the time.
After unsuccessful attempts to locate DeCarolis immediately following the event, investigators obtained an arrest warrant for him on April 14. Later that day, members of the Oneida County Sheriff’s Warrants Unit received information about his location and took him into custody.
DeCarolis was processed at the sheriff’s office on several charges: Burglary in the second degree (a Class C felony), Criminal Contempt in the first degree (a Class E felony), Aggravated Family Offense (a Class E felony), Menacing in the second degree (a Class A misdemeanor), three counts of Endangering Welfare of a Child (Class A misdemeanors), and Harassment in the second degree (a violation). He was arraigned at CAP Court and remanded to jail with bail set at $15,000 cash. Authorities also obtained a stay away order of protection for both the victim and all three children involved.
