Oneida County Sheriff Robert M. Maciol announced on April 17 that a woman from the City of Rome was arrested after deputies responded to a domestic incident.
The case involves concerns about child safety and parental responsibility, as authorities allege that young children were left unattended during the early morning hours.
Deputies arrived at Turin Road in Rome at approximately 3:34 a.m. on April 16 following a welfare check request. The investigation found that Delilah M. Snyder, age 29, had left her four children—ranging in age from four to ten years old—alone at home while she visited a neighbor. According to the sheriff’s office, one of the children left the residence and approached a Deputy Sheriff who was parked nearby to report their mother’s absence.
Snyder has been charged with four counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, which is classified as a Class-A misdemeanor. She was transported to Oneida Correctional Facility pending arraignment at Oneida County CAP Court. The children were released into the care of an adult relative present at the scene.
This incident highlights ongoing issues related to child welfare and law enforcement’s role in responding to such situations.
