On November 23, 2025, Shauna Broadbent, 34, of Holland Patent, was arrested by a member of the STOP DWI Unit. She faces several charges related to impaired driving stemming from a motor vehicle accident that took place on September 14, 2025.
Broadbent has been charged with one count each of Aggravated DWI (1192(2aa)), Driving While Intoxicated (1192(3)), Driving While Ability Impaired by the Combination of Drugs and Alcohol (1192(4a)), and Driving While Intoxicated per se (1192(2)). All charges are classified as unclassified misdemeanors. She also received tickets for other traffic violations under the Vehicle and Traffic Law. Broadbent was issued appearance tickets for these charges and is scheduled to appear in Floyd Town Court at a later date.
The Sheriff’s Office issued a reminder to motorists ahead of the holiday season: “With the Holiday Season approaching, The Sheriff’s Office reminds motorists to drink responsibly, plan ahead, and call for a ride.”
According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol’s earlier statement, deputies responded on September 14 at approximately 8:55 p.m. to a two-car personal injury accident on New Floyd Road in the Town of Floyd. Deputies determined that Broadbent was traveling north on Koenig Road in a Chevrolet Traverse when she collided with a Toyota Tacoma driven by William Spinelli, 29, of Syracuse. Emergency responders from Floyd Fire Department and AmCare Ambulance arrived at the scene; Broadbent was transported to WYNN Hospital for her injuries while Spinelli was evaluated at the scene by EMS personnel. None of the injuries were considered life-threatening.
Deputies concluded that Broadbent was responsible for the accident after determining she failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection where Koenig Road meets New Floyd Road. Cushman’s Automotive assisted with towing vehicles from the scene. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
