Sheriff Robert M. Maciol, Investigator Constantine, K9 Addie, and Carolyn Walwrath attended a ribbon cutting ceremony on April 17 for the newly opened Community Health and Behavioral Services Crisis Stabilization Center in Utica. The event marked the launch of a facility aimed at providing support to individuals experiencing mental health or substance use crises.
The opening of this center is significant because it offers additional resources to address urgent behavioral health needs within the community. Local officials say the facility will play an important role in supporting those who require immediate assistance.
According to Sheriff Maciol, “This facility will give the Sheriff’s Office Critical Response Team (CRT) a huge opportunity to further help those in our community who are suffering a mental health or substance use crisis.” He said that collaboration with Upstate Caring Partners through this initiative is expected to improve how services are delivered.
The partnership between law enforcement and Upstate Caring Partners is intended to enhance response capabilities during critical incidents involving mental health or substance use emergencies. Attendees at the ceremony expressed optimism about how these efforts could make a difference for vulnerable residents.
Maciol said, “Our partnership will greatly enhance the services that we provide to the community.” Officials anticipate that ongoing cooperation between agencies will strengthen support systems available throughout Oneida County.
