The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office Recreation, Child ID, and Community Affairs Units attended the Big East Camping and Outdoor Sports Show at Accelerate Sports Complex over the weekend.
The event provided an opportunity for community members to engage with law enforcement and access safety resources. Many attendees participated in activities such as earning boater safety certifications and obtaining child identification cards.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, 62 area youth received New York State Sheriffs’ Association Operation Safe Child IDs during the event. The units also offered information to those seeking guidance on recreational safety or other community matters.
Visitors were able to interact with officers from various units, ask questions, and learn more about available programs. Organizers said that many people stopped by simply to greet members of the Sheriff’s Office or take part in educational activities.
The Sheriff’s Office highlighted that a great time was had by all who attended, reflecting ongoing efforts to foster positive relationships between law enforcement and residents.
