Theology 101: The Trinity or 1+1+1=1
Most of us are likely familiar with the concept of the Trinity: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Many of us have learned that this is one of the aspects of Christianity that makes us unique among other world religions. But few of us have likely spent time really considering how we understand each person of the Trinity. Can we be both monotheistic and trinitarian? Did God really create everything from nothing? Is Jesus really 100% God and 100% man? Is the Spirit just our intuition? One thing is for sure, I haven’t seen any explicit answers to these questions come up in our Bicentennial Bible Challenge readings yet.
All are invited to join us on Sunday mornings for the next three weeks as we work to unpack the Trinity. We look forward to covering not only how these theologies have developed through time, but also the impact they have on our faith today. This Sunday, we will focus on the first person of the Trinity, the Creator. Contact Mike Mullin, mmullin@asburyfirst.org, with questions or for more information.
