With this weekends temperature to be near 90 degrees, Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol reminds us of the dangers of heat elevation inside your vehicle.
A vehicle’s windows act like a greenhouse, trapping the rising heat and sunlight, while also heating the individuals and pets inside the car. The sun can heat the car to deadly temperatures in a matter of minutes. Even though the temperature outside may feel relatively cool, it only takes a small amount of time for the temperature to increase to a dangerous level.
If you see a vehicle parked with occupants (human or pet) unattended on a warm day please consider calling 911.
