Assemblyman Brian Miller commended Governor Hochul and municipal leaders for their commitment to revitalizing local communities through the Downtown Revitalization Initiative (DRI) and the NY Forward Program. The initiative focuses on uplifting municipalities like Richfield, Boonville, and Herkimer, ensuring a brighter future for their residents.

Richfield, with a $4.5 million NY Forward Award, plans to enhance Main Street and public areas while preserving its historic charm. The village aims to make downtown more pedestrian-friendly, attract small businesses, and incorporate a park into its community-centric plans.

Meanwhile, Boonville's $4.5 million NY Forward Award emphasizes pedestrian-friendly infrastructure and small business growth, leveraging its tourist attractions to boost the downtown area. Their 'We're Just Up the Road' application seeks to create a more bike- and pedestrian-friendly city.

Herkimer, with a $10 million DRI Award, strategically plans to revitalize its downtown, recognizing its role as the county seat. This investment aims to attract jobs, businesses, and enhance walkability, fostering a dynamic and welcoming environment that embodies community pride.

The investments in these communities signify not just financial support but the promise of revitalization, growth, and a brighter future. Assemblyman Brian Miller expressed his appreciation for the efforts, stating, "I applaud Governor Hochul and the leaders of these municipalities for taking the time to invest in our communities."
