New York State Sen. Joseph Griffo, R-C-Rome, has announced a partnership with the Oneida-Herkimer Solid Waste Authority, Confidata, and the state Department of Environmental Conservation to host an electronics recycling event in Utica on Saturday, April 27.

"This is an important opportunity to safely dispose of unwanted electronics, medications, and papers," Sen. Griffo stated in a press release. "I thank the Oneida-Herkimer Solid Waste Authority, Confidata, and the state Department of Environmental Conservation for again partnering with me for this upcoming event."

The free event will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Oneida-Herkimer Recycling Center at 80 Leland Avenue Extension in Utica. Attendees are encouraged to bring electronics such as TVs, computers, and other devices for safe disposal. Additionally, Confidata will be available on-site to shred up to three boxes of confidential documents per vehicle, and the state Department of Environmental Conservation will be collecting old or expired prescription medications.

According to Sen. Griffo, past recycling events have been successful in collecting over 600,000 lbs. of electronics for recycling.

Media outlets are invited to cover the event, as Sen. Griffo's office noted, "These events are very well attended by the public and the piles of items collected offer good visuals for media purposes. All media are encouraged to stop by."
