The City of Utica has announced the opening of a new ice rink on the Parkway, with public skating hours starting December 13, 2024. Mayor Galime expressed enthusiasm for this addition to the city's traditions, stating, “In a city with many popular traditions, I am happy to see new ones be created and being able to ice skate outside on the Parkway is one of them.”
Public skating will be available Fridays from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Saturdays from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Sundays from 10:00 a.m. to noon and 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Children under the age of twelve must be accompanied by an adult.
For adults aged eighteen and over, there will be dedicated skating times on Tuesdays and Thursdays from noon to 1:30 p.m.
Skate rentals are available at $5, as is open skate admission. Additional hours will be offered during holidays and school breaks.
Mayor Galime also acknowledged those who contributed to the project’s completion, saying, “I would like to thank my staff and everyone that worked hard to get the rink up and running. We are now in a position that has allowed us to take full operational control and full ownership of everything needed to operate the rink.”
