The Mohawk Valley Health System (MVHS) and Slocum-Dickson Medical Group (SDMG) have announced a new partnership aimed at enhancing patient care coordination and access to medical information. This collaboration will see SDMG joining MVHS's Community Connect Epic platform, strengthening ties between the region's largest hospital system and its largest multi-specialty private group practice.
Epic Community Connect facilitates a shared ecosystem for healthcare organizations and independent providers to access Electronic Medical Records (EHR). This enables them to view patient charts, facilitate orders and referrals, and receive real-time notifications about shared patients. The partnership grants SDMG streamlined access to the Epic system at MVHS, thereby improving patient care quality.
Darlene Stromstad, president/CEO of MVHS, stated: “This partnership underscores our shared commitment to providing the best possible care for our community. SDMG cares for a significant number of patients in our region and we presently care for many of the same patients. By connecting with SDMG through Epic Community Connect, not only do we further solidify the relationship between the two organizations, but we can ensure providers across both organizations have access to the most up-to-date patient information, leading to more informed decisions and improved outcomes.”
Alexander Harris, MD, president of Slocum-Dickson Medical Group, commented: “Partnering with MVHS through Epic Community Connect creates a more collaborative healthcare community. This collaboration allows both organizations to receive the most up-to-date patient information and will deliver coordinated quality care for patients. Keeping patient care in the forefront makes this partnership a vital platform for both organizations and our patients.”
This initiative reflects an increasing trend among healthcare organizations towards data integration and information sharing to improve patient care. Both MVHS and SDMG are taking steps forward in this movement within the Mohawk Valley.
