Assemblyman Brian Miller has successfully passed a resolution to designate March as Pure New York State Maple Month. New York is recognized as the second-largest producer of maple syrup in the United States, with an annual growth rate of 7%. The industry contributes significantly to the state's economy, generating an impact of $141 million each year. Additionally, it plays a crucial role in preserving rural landscapes and supporting sustainable agriculture practices.

Miller emphasized the importance of acknowledging both producers and consumers: “Today and throughout the month, let us take a moment to recognize and applaud our hardworking maple producers and the loyal consumers who contribute to this success. I am honored to declare March as Pure New York State Maple Month."

The state hosts over 2,000 maple producers, highlighting its diverse agricultural landscape. Miller noted that this time of year signals the start of activities in maple production: “This time of year marks the awakening of our maple trees. It's a season when many maple producers graciously open their doors to offer tours and educational events."

He encouraged residents to visit local producers: "I wholeheartedly encourage all New Yorkers to take the opportunity to visit one of their local maple producers during this season and enjoy some maple syrup with pancakes and waffles with your family,” said Miller.
