New York State Senator Joseph Griffo, representing the Republican Conference, has urged Governor Kathy Hochul to withdraw Executive Order No. 47.3. This order was issued following the governor's response to strikes at correctional facilities across the state and prohibits 2,000 former state corrections officers from being employed by New York State or local agencies.

Senator Griffo expressed concerns about the impact of this directive: "The governor must immediately rescind this executive order," he stated. He emphasized that the directive adversely affects corrections officers who advocated for improved work conditions and their families. Additionally, he noted its negative implications for National Guard members deployed in state prisons without sufficient resources or support, as well as for local governments and law enforcement agencies experiencing staff shortages.

A letter detailing these concerns has been sent to Governor Hochul.
