The City of Utica, in collaboration with the Greater Utica Chamber of Commerce, has announced the grand opening of Harbor Point on June 5, 2025. This event is a key moment in the ongoing revitalization efforts for Utica’s waterfront.

The festivities will commence with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 4:00 PM, attended by local, regional, and state leaders who have supported the development of Harbor Point. Following this, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, there will be a community celebration featuring local entertainment and food.

Mayor Michael P. Galime commented on the significance of this development: “The grand opening of Harbor Point marks the culmination of decades of vision, investment, and hard work—and, on June 5th, it begins a new chapter for an entire district, transforming Utica’s historic waterfront on the Mohawk River and Erie Canalway Trail into a distinctive destination for recreation, business development, and tourism.”

Kari Puleo, Executive Director of the Greater Utica Chamber of Commerce added: “We are thrilled to celebrate this pivotal moment for Utica as we officially open Harbor Point — a visionary project that redefines our connection to the waterfront. This development is more than just a revitalization of space; it’s a bold investment in the future of our community, economy, and quality of life. The Greater Utica Chamber of Commerce is proud to stand behind this initiative and we look forward to the lasting impact it will have on our region.”

The project received funding support from both the NYS Canal Corporation and the Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor. To accommodate attendees due to limited parking at Harbor Point, Centro will offer continuous shuttle service between Nexus Center Parking Lot and Harbor Point.
