A Verona man was arrested after a domestic incident led to multiple charges, according to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol.
On February 26, 2026, deputies from the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call from the Emergency Services 911 Center about a domestic dispute at a residence in the Town of Verona. Before deputies arrived, the suspect reportedly left the scene in a vehicle. Deputies located the suspect’s vehicle after it had gone off the roadway. While some deputies investigated the scene of the crash, others continued to investigate at the residence.
According to reports, an argument took place between the suspect and victim over property. The suspect allegedly took away the victim’s cell phone while she was attempting to call 911 for assistance. The victim then used another phone and went into a bedroom to contact emergency services again. While she was on the phone with 911, the suspect tried to enter by damaging the bedroom door but left once he realized police were being contacted.
During their investigation, deputies found several illegal firearms and ammunition magazines inside the home. The Criminal Investigation Unit assisted with processing evidence and further inquiry.
At the end of their investigation, Nasear L. Walker, age 30 of Verona, was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated (misdemeanor), two counts of fourth-degree criminal mischief (class A misdemeanor), five counts of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon (class D felony), and three counts of criminal possession of a firearm (class E felony).
Walker was taken to Oneida County Correctional Facility pending arraignment in CAP Court. On February 27, Walker appeared before CAP Court and bail was set at $1,500 cash or credit card; $5,000 insurance company bail bond; or $14,900 partially secured appearance bond with a ten percent deposit. He posted bail and has since been released from custody.
An order of protection has been issued for the victim.
