Visitor restrictions for Maternal Child Services and the Pediatric unit at Wynn Hospital have been lifted. Originally implemented to protect patients and staff from illnesses such as the flu, COVID, and RSV, these measures are no longer considered necessary. This decision was supported by the NYS Department of Health, MVHS Chief of Pediatrics, and MVHS Maternity leaders.
Current visitation guidelines specify the following:
Labor and Delivery: Two support persons, including a doula if requested, are allowed throughout labor, delivery, and postpartum, including recovery, until discharge. These individuals can be a spouse, partner, sibling, parent, or another person over 16. An additional two visitors may join after delivery, with a maximum of four visitors in the room at any time.
Mother and Baby Unit: Visiting hours are 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., with a rest period from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Two support persons from Labor and Delivery and two additional visitors can be present during these hours. Siblings of the newborn may visit with an adult during visiting hours.
Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU): Visiting hours are from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. All adult visitors must be accompanied by a primary caregiver and present identification. Grandparents may visit alone with written permission. Two adult visitors, one being the primary caregiver, are allowed per newborn, along with a minor sibling. Only one parent can stay overnight.
Pediatrics: Upon admission, parents may designate two support persons (over 16) allowed to visit with the parents present. Siblings can visit with adult supervision during specified hours.
