NATIONAL CORRECTIONAL OFFICERS WEEK
National Correctional Officers Week May 1st-7th, 2022
On May 5, 1984, President Ronald Reagan proclaimed the first full week of May as National Correctional Officers Week. This week has been set aside, to celebrate and honor the work that is carried out by our Correctional Officers who are truly the unseen heroes, working along-side law enforcement officers to help protect lives both inside and outside of jail.
President Reagan said it best in 1987, “No group of Americans has a more difficult or less publicly visible job than the brave men and women who work in our correctional facilities.” "The important work of Correctional Officers often does not receive the recognition from the public it deserves”.
“Your professionalism, commitment, as well as your daily sacrifice, prove without doubt, that hard work and dedication makes Oneida County a safer place. Thank you all!!" - Sheriff Maciol
