In accordance with the requirements contained in Section 2-29-44 of the Zoning Ordinance of the City of Utica, the applicant is seeking approval of a Certificate of Appropriateness in order to construct a garage addition at the above referenced property.

The applicant is proposing to construct a four (4) stall garage addition to the rear of the existing Hurd Building.  The new addition will be located on the south side of the building accessible from the parking lot facing Broad Street.  Four (4) bronze aluminum and glass overhead doors will face the parking lot with the single slope roof extending around the southeast corner of the building creating a canopy supported by steel columns at the main building entrance.  The addition will be a wood framed structure clad with bronze vertical corrugated metal siding, horizontal natural wood siding and bronze standing seam metal roofing.  The materials and colors are to relate to the bronze steel and heavy timber of the historic nature of the building.  The applicant will replace the landscaping bed along the building and the first row of parking spaces.
