New York State Sen. Joseph Griffo and the Senate Republican Working Group on Antisemitism have released a statement in response to the controversial 'Not on Our Dime' bill. They argue that this legislation is designed to penalize not-for-profit organizations dedicated to combating antisemitism, at a time when hate crimes are on the rise.
"In the wake of the horrific attacks on Israel on October 7th, we have witnessed a disturbing rise of antisemitism, including recent protests in support of terrorist organizations like Hamas on college campuses in New York and across the nation," they said.
The group asserts that the 'Not on Our Dime' bill represents an alarming trend of antisemitic sentiment and constitutes a direct attack on both Israel and Jewish people worldwide. They emphasize that it is more crucial than ever for elected officials to stand against such harmful policies and safeguard Jewish communities.
"The Working Group was formed to find solutions to combat antisemitism, and we stand firmly in opposition to this bill. We remain unequivocal in our support of Israel and our Jewish population here in New York," they concluded.
