New York State Sen. Joseph Griffo, R-C-Rome, announced today that applications are now open for the governor’s 2024 Youth Agriculture Leadership Conference, scheduled to take place this November.

The invitation-only conference aims to provide attendees with opportunities to connect with state leaders and experts, influence agriculture-related policies, and identify ways to increase youth engagement in the agriculture industry.

Applicants must be in grades 11 or 12 and active members of an FFA chapter, 4-H program, or Minorities in Agriculture, Natural Resources and Related Sciences (MANRRS) junior or collegiate chapter. The deadline to apply is July 15.

“I am pleased that the governor values the input of the next generation of leaders in New York’s agriculture industry,” Sen. Griffo said. “It is important that all voices – no matter the age – are listened to when it comes to developing policies and initiatives. I am hopeful that members of the FFA, 4-H and MANRRS chapters in the 53rd Senate District will apply to attend this conference and for the opportunity to shape the future of agriculture in New York.”

Sen. Griffo has been a consistent advocate for policies aimed at strengthening family farms and creating new jobs within the agriculture industry by expanding markets, reducing production costs, and investing in New York's leading industry.

“Farming and the agriculture industry are a significant foundation for Upstate New York and the state’s economy,” Sen. Griffo said. “I recognize and appreciate the substantial impact that the industry has on communities and families throughout the state and will continue to advocate on behalf of our farmers and agribusinesses.”
