Cost of college went up for all students at the SUNY Polytechnic Institute

In-state tuition and fees rose 3 percent for 2018-19 at the SUNY Polytechnic Institute, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

New York residents paid $8,238 to attend the four-year public institution this year – $240 more than the $7,998 charged for 2017-18.

Non-residents paid 118.7 percent more than residents this year, or $18,018. Their price tag grew 2.1 percent from $17,648 in 2017-18.

About 97 percent of the school's undergraduate population are New York residents. About 1 percent are residents of other states and 1 percent are citizens of other countries.

Data shows 97 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 432 students received grants or scholarships totaling $3.6 million and 263 students took out student loans totaling more than $1.7 million.

Including all undergraduates (3,023), 1,602 students used grants or scholarships totaling $12.4 million, and 1,112 students took out $7.3 million in federal student loans.
