Mohawk Valley Community College will host events and activities in honor of Black History Month, an annual celebration of achievements by African Americans and a time for recognizing the central role of blacks in U.S. history and culture.
Programming Days
MVCC’s Office of Student Engagement, Black Latinx Student Union, and the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion will host Programming Days in Utica and Rome, featuring tables set up with activities, information, and small gifts for students. The schedule is:
- Utica Campus: Tuesday, Feb. 7, AB Lobby
- Rome Campus: Wednesday, Feb. 22, PC Atrium
MVCC’s Program Board will host Kahoot Trivia about Black history at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 7, in the Alumni College Center Snack Bar at the Utica Campus.
Community Movie Night
MVCC’s BLSU will host a showing of “Black Panther Wakanda Forever” on Friday, Feb. 10, in Schafer Theater at the Utica Campus. The event will begin with a meet-and-greet from 3 to 3:45 p.m., and the movie will start at 4 p.m. MVCC students and students from the community are invited. Admission is free, but tickets are required. Reserve your ticket.
Black History Month Networking Day
MVCC Student Engagement will host a Black History Month Networking event from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 13, in Wilcox Hall 225 at the Utica Campus. This event is an opportunity for students to connect with and learn from leaders on and off campus.
