Mohawk Valley Community College Culinary Arts students are offering a spring luncheon series in a new “modified cafeteria” format. Lunches will be available from noon to 1 p.m. on Wednesdays, March 1, 8, 22, 29, April 5, 12, and 26, on the College’s Rome Campus, 1101 Floyd Ave. The cost is $15 per person.

The “modified cafeteria”-style lunches will consist of 12 to 14 small plate options, and guests will be able to walk through the kitchen and choose as many items as they’d like with no limit on the number of dishes taken. Options will include:

  • Red Wine Braised Short Rib with Fried Polenta
  • Lamb Lollipops with Fondant Potatoes
  • Seared Duck Breast with Asian Cabbage Salad
  • Crab Cakes with Spicy Remoulade
  • Roasted Pork Tenderloin with Caramelized Onion Risotto

Reservations will be taken for the full hour, but guests can come in when they prefer and go whenever they are satisfied within the timeframe. Quantities and seats are limited; it’s recommended to make reservations a week ahead at https://mvcceats.square.site or by contacting Dustin Swiss at 315-334-7720 or dswiss@mvcc.edu.

MVCC’s Hospitality programs include degrees in Culinary Arts Management and Food Service Administration: Restaurant Management, and a certificate in Chef Training. Each semester, students in these programs host a series of lunches or dinners, allowing them a creative outlet to practice what they learn in class. For more information about the programs, call 315-792-5314.
